Michelle Birsky

Michelle Birsky is a composer, artist, and music producer based in Los Angeles who specializes in nontraditional, electro-acoustic film scores. Michelle graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in music before interning for esteemed composer Elliot Goldenthal (Frida, Across the Universe). During this time, Michelle developed her own musical voice and branched out into the indie music world, recording and performing synthpop music, and scoring indie films under the moniker Birch. In 2019, Michelle released her debut LP femme.one, a feminist concept album. In 2020, Michelle moved to LA and was accepted into the Society of Composer and Lyricists mentorship program alongside a small number of up and coming composers. Her recent work includes the original score for Asking For It, a feature film starring Stephanie Hsu and Janeane Garofalo which premiered at Cinequest 2020 and Fuse TV, and the original score for Mother/Android, a Miramax film by Mattson Tomlin (The Batman) which premiered on Hulu in December 2021, both of which she has co-composed with her partner Kevin Henthorn. Through her music and film composition projects, Michelle seeks to tell stories that broaden minds and raise the female voice.
